Introducing Trauma Vacuum Theory™

 

Trauma Vacuum Theory™ (TVT) is an original framework that explores the relationship between trauma, identity, and the organisation of the self.

TVT proposes that trauma may do more than create symptoms, emotional wounds, nervous system dysregulation, or limiting beliefs. It may also alter where experience is organised from.

When this happens, people often develop what TVT calls Survival Identities — adaptive structures designed to maintain safety, belonging, worth, protection, or control.

These structures can continue operating long after the original danger has passed.

As a result, a person may improve in many areas of life and still feel as though they are living through protection rather than from themselves.
